So, a little about me – I was born and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin. For those not familiar with Wisconsin, Waukesha is a suburban city situated a little west of Milwaukee. After high school, I enrolled in the nursing program at a local community college. And after realizing that nursing wasn’t my calling, switched to the Early Childhood program since I’d always loved working with young kids. However, I’m actually a college dropout. I guess you could say mainstream just wasn’t for me. I floated around for a few years, working as a daycare teacher and on and off as a nanny. Honestly, as much as I loved being around kids, I was really unhappy. I never felt fulfilled. So…blogging?
You may be surprised to hear that I actually started a blog a few years back, in 2016. This is kind of a long(ish) story that I’d have to go into more detail about later, but essentially what happened is that I let that first blog fail. I didn’t build on it as much as I wanted to because I just wasn’t that “into” it. I wanted to be really proud of that blog, but I wasn’t. And after about a year and a half, I abandoned it.
What’s funny is that that dream of becoming a successful blogger never. went. away. I literally thought about it every single day. So many other people doing it and quite frankly rocking it, so all I ever thought of was “Why couldn’t I?” So, here we are! Round two. I rebranded, came up with a name for my blog that had a lot more personal meaning and that I felt could grow with me as I did, and came up with a more intentional purpose and overall direction.
The Brunette Butterfly was born to share my love of affordable fashion, beauty, travel and so much more. To be a creative outlet where I can just be myself.
Like I mentioned earlier, I’m Miranda. I’m a cat mom, curvy girl and lover of all things fashion, beauty, and travel. I will literally never turn down an iced coffee or chips & guac, I love rainy days a little too much, and I have an unhealthy obsession with Bath & Body Works & all things Disney. I absolutely love making people feel special, planning parties and exploring new places (oh, and sleeping in!). And most importantly, I’m on journey to transform from a caterpillar to a butterfly. To live I life I love.
